Mulled Wine

Spiced with cinnamon, star anise, cloves, this mulled wine will make you warm, tingly, and be sure to get you in the holiday mood.



MULLED WINE

INGREDIENTS


1 bottle of red wine like Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, Zinfandel

2 cups apple cider

2 Oranges (orange peels, white pith removed & juice both oranges)

2 cinnamon sticks

3 Star anise

4-5 cloves

2-4 tablespoons of brown sugar or maple syrup (add more if you want it sweeter)

¼ cup Grand Marnier (optional)


METHOD


1. Place all ingredients, except Grand Marnier, in a large pot. Bring to a bare simmer over medium-low heat; cook gently for 15-20 minutes.


2. Add Grand Marnier. Divide among glasses; garnish each with a cinnamon stick & orange slices


3. Mulled wine keeps for about 3-4 days in the fridge


NOTE: For a mocktail, switch out the red wine and use a gallon of apple cider.
